Who We Are

Promoting Green Entrepreneurship for Positive Community Impacts

ProMicro Consulting is a for-profit, market-oriented consulting firm. We are located in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the Upper Midwest region of the United States. Working with our various partners, we serve public sector, private firms, and community-based organizations locally, nation-wide and globally. To date, we have contracted to support microentreprenuers in more than 16 countries including the US and internationally and the list continues to grow.

Terrence Isert, Owner/President, brings nearly 20 years of nonprofit-sector experience to promoting greener enterprise development to act as a catalyst to achieve healthier, viable communities. He leverages his vast experience and technical expertise to build and implement enterprise growth strategies, develop marketing plans, design new loan and savings products, and deliver business training services to  foster growth and efficiency in micro-businesses, small enterprises and community development financial institutions (microfinance institutions).

Terry ‘s most recent efforts have focused on monitoring and evaluation initiatives for making markets work for the poor (M4P) and savings-led financing projects in Africa as well as proposal development  for  CDFIs and proposal data analysis for a nationwide community-based nonprofit..

Grassroots. Harnessing his international development expertise, Terry has worked with thousands of low-wealth entrepreneurs, numerous local community-based organizations and many large non-profits in more than 15 countries from the US to Africa to Asia. He has led strategic planning sessions, delivered business training, and taught entrepreneurs to craft market-oriented business plans to improve their competitiveness. Prior to consulting, he served as the Senior Technical Advisor for Economic Opportunities for a Minneapolis-based nonprofit humanitarian organization, supporting a global microenterprise and microfinance portfolio in seven countries in Africa and Asia.

Growth. Recently, he  developed a $7 million USD private-foundation proposal for a youth enterprise development program in three west African countries  and a $1.3 million USDUN/World Bank award  for a microfinance institution (CDFI) in South Sudan. He has also transformed two community-lending programs with over 20,000 clients into private, for-profit companies in East and West Africa.

Green technology:  He has practical experience and expertise with  household-level green technologies in the US. He has supported the installations of simple, solar/photovoltaic technologies and low-impact, high-altitude water and waste treatment systems in remote, rural areas.

Terry has also served as Chairman of a board of directors for a CDFI (microfinance company) with national coverage in Sierra Leone and a board member of a local Twin Cities youth-education nonprofit organization. He has co-authored and contributed to several technical manuals on microfinance institutions (CDFI) covering internal auditing, financial performance, microenterprise development, and employment standards for economic recovery after a crisis.

After many years overseas, he now resides with his family in Minneapolis, Minnesota . He enjoys leading his family out into the wilderness for long canoeing and camping experiences, hiking to just about anywhere, taking his touring bike for a spin around the Twin Cities, playing his guitar, cross-country skiing (when there is snow) and traveling to national parks (when there is not).
